| Q:
Why do the Financial Impact Summary report totals not
match the figures that I manually calculate? |
| A:
The Current Budget, Proposed Increase and the Proposed
Budget values only include employees that have a valid
proposed job code and corresponding pay grade values.
Since red-lining is calculated, only these records are
used. |
| Q:
When I add a proposed job in the Job Evaluation screen
and I am not in the default scenario, why does the job
not show up in the Jobs screen when I go to the default
scenario? |
| A:
When jobs are added in the Job Evaluation screen, they
are only added to the currently selected scenario. In
order to have the job show up in another scenario, you
will need to go to the Scenarios menu and select 'Insert
jobs into current scenario'. This will need to be done
with every scenario that you wish the job to be in.
If all of the Job evaluations are performed before adding
additional scenarios, this step can be avoided. |
| Q:
How can I remove an employee out of a position? When
I click on the drop-down list it only lets me choose
an employee. I can't make it blank. |
| A:
To clear the value in the drop-down list, select the
drop-down and hit the 'ESC' button on your keyboard.
This also works in other screens where a blank value
is allowed. |
| Q:
When I make a change to one of the records in the Pay
Plan Parameters, it gives me a warning message. Why? |
| A:
This is normal. The system is simply alerting you to
the fact that the salary ranges currently do not correspond
correctly. You should examine the 'From Salary' and
'To Salary' ranges to be sure that there are not gaps
between ranges and records. |
| Q:
What is the M.S.C. in the Proposed Pay Structure screen? |
| A:
The M.S.C. stands for Market Stance Coefficient. Normally
the value is 1.00, but if you would like to be 5% above
the market, then you should enter 1.05 into this field.
What this does is increase the market values by 5% when
the regression analysis is calculated. It is reflected
in the Market Stance column in the Regression Analysis
screen. |
| Q:
Our organization uses performance scores that are not
numeric. Can we still use the performance scores feature? |
| A:
Yes. But you will have to convert your score values
to equivalent numerical scores in order to import/enter
the performance scores. Non-numerical scores are not
allowed. |
| Q:
In the Jobs screen, I noticed that I cannot add or remove
a Proposed Job. Why can't this be done? |
| A:
The reason you cannot add or delete a proposed job in
the Jobs screen is because the jobs you are viewing
are linked via the scenario that you are in. Because
it is possible to have the same job be classified differently
in multiple scenarios, it is not possible to add or
delete a proposed job while it is linked. To add or
delete a proposed job, you will need to go to the Job
Evaluations screen. |
| Q:
Our organization has departments that are within divisions.
I noticed that in the import file specifications it
has them reversed. Can we still use our department and
division codes? |
| A:
Yes. But to use them properly you should just reverse
the orders. So, when it asks for department codes, you
should enter your division code. And when it asks for
division codes you should enter department codes. When
the reports are generated, the only discrepancy will
be the names, department and division. But, the information
will be categorized correctly. |
| Q:
Why are race codes needed in the system? |
| A:
The race codes are only used for EEO reporting. If you
do not have an interest in these reports then you can
omit the race codes from your project. |
| Q:
What is the E.A.F. field in the Job Evaluations screen? |
| A:
The E.A.F. stands for Economic Adjustment Factor. This
value is normally 1.00. This value is used when an economic
anomaly is found to exist for a particular job. If,
for example, there is a severe shortage of nurses in
your area it would be reasonable to assume that their
compensation would be higher than if the demand were
average. In this case you can, at your discretion, inflate
the E.A.F. value to say 1.05 which would correspond
to a 5% increase in the overall point score for that
job, thus giving it higher pay rankings than would normally
be expected. This field should be used only when necessary
and you should have a good reason to inflate the value.
Although, a value less than 1.00 can be entered, it
is generally not recommended. |
| Q:
In the Scenario Parameters screen, I have selected to
use the 'Based on Class Date' Adjustment method. What
kind of values do I need to enter in the Range Adjustment
Matrix for this to work properly? |
| A:
When you select an adjustment method which corresponds
to time but does not involve performance scores you
should enter a zero '0' in the 'From Score' and the
'To Score' fields. So, for example, you could enter
the first records as 'From year: 0' 0 'To year: 2' 'From
score: 0' To score: 0' and 'Range Multiplier:
0.5'. So for any employee that had a class date less
than 2 years they would be adjusted 50% into the range
from minimum to mid-point. |
| Q:
Why do all of the reports have the word 'DRAFT' in red
at the bottom of the page? |
| A:
The draft stamp is used so that when you are generating
draft reports you can distinguish them from your final
reports, which will not have the draft stamp. To remove
the draft stamp simply uncheck the 'View as Draft' menu
in the Reports menu, then open the desired report. Some
reports do not have this feature enabled. |
